Pizza, need I say more?! Who doesn’t love a slice of delicious cheese and tomato on a soft doughy base with toppings? Are you craving pizza now? I am!
But I do have to admit, pizza does get a very bad reputation as a classic comfort food. Enjoyed in moderation it’s okay though right? Well here is my classic vegetable pizza recipe (I think we’re getting one of our five-a-day in by adding the vegetables on top but don’t quote me on that).
Let’s get started! Here are the ingredients you will need to make this Mediterranean Pizza yourself at home today:
1. 375g strong white bread flour
2. 7g fast action yeast
3. 300ml warm water
4. 3 tbsp olive oil
5. 1 tsp caster sugar
6. 1 tsp onion granules
7. 1 tsp garlic powder (or the equivalent fresh, chopped)
8. 1 tsp salt
9. A handful of black olives pitted
10. Half a red onion, finely diced
11. One red bell pepper, finely diced or cut into strips
12. Any other vegetable toppings that you wish
Step 2
Cover the bowl with cling film (or equivalent) and allow to rise for at least one hour.
After one hour is up, lightly flour a baking tray and flatten out your pizza dough on it.
You may wish to divide the dough into a few little pizza bases, especially if you are getting your children involved in the process!
Step 3
Add the tomato paste and grated cheese. Get your children involved in the process too, sprinkling the cheese and vegetable toppings everywhere! Add your vegetable toppings such as the bell pepper and red onion and olives. (I also love adding sweetcorn to my pizzas too).
Bake in the oven at Gas Mark 5/190C/375F for 20 minutes or until going golden brown and enjoy! Serve your tasty pizza with salad, garlic bread, hot and buttery boiled potatoes or even chips, the choice is yours!
