Napkin rings can add a lovely touch to your dining table. However, they can be expensive and if you have lots of guests coming over then this can soon add up!
If you like to vary your napkin rings for each season or special events such as birthday parties, Christmas and Thanksgiving then why not make your own? You can choose the colour scheme, pick the decorations and embellishments and make them as simple or extravagant as you desire, saving money in the process!
Check out my Homemade Paper-Mache Bowls craft here too!
Whats more, you can help to recycle old plastic bottles to make them! Read on to find out how…
To make these homemade napkin rings you will need the following:
1. An old, clean plastic drinks bottle (one 500ml bottle will make four napkin rings)
2. Ribbon, wool or string to wrap around your napkin rings
3. Decorations such as stick on gems, sequins and feathers
4. Glue for sticking the decorations down
5. Scissors
Step 1
Carefully cut out the central part of your plastic bottle. (Use a sharp knife or scissors to get the cutting line started). Then cut this central part of the bottle into four equal segments.
Step 2
Secure your ribbon or string to the napkin ring, (either with glue, sellotape or by tying it in a knot) and wrap this all the way around the napkin ring until it is completely covered. Secure the end in place with a little dab of glue.
Step 3
Now you have reached the most exciting part, the decorating! You can get children involved in this part or use it as a relaxing way to unwind and be creative yourself!
